“Science is a fascinating field that offers endless opportunities for discovery and innovation. If you’re passionate about science, don’t be afraid to take risks and try new things.”

PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, are fluorinated carbon compounds that are highly stable and detected everywhere due to their unique water and oil-repellent properties.PFAS can enter our body when we drink, eat, wear clothes, or breathe, and can cause cancer, increase cholesterol levels, reduce vaccine responses, and harm infants through breast milk. My research investigates the extent to which we are contaminated with PFAS through blood testing and finding a way to destroy PFAS into smaller pieces and making them non-harmful compounds.
